John Deere Adds Hardened Beaver Tooth Option to Forestry Saw Teeth Portfolio

MOLINE, Ill. — Expanding the portfolio of aftermarket forestry saw teeth options for its customers, John Deere introduces the one-piece hardened beaver saw tooth for John Deere Wheeled and Tracked Feller Bunchers. The new beaver saw tooth design boasts a beveled feature at each tooth tip, which helps improve tooth durability while striking materials other than wood. Not only does this extend the life of the tooth but, also helps increase productivity in rocky conditions where a carbide tooth would not be advisable.

“Our saw teeth models have been rigorously tested on real logging jobsites, helping us deliver ideal solutions made to tackle any forestry application head-on,” said William Borrenpohl, Aftermarket Product Manager, John Deere. “This remains the case for our new beaver saw tooth option, which was strategically designed to offer increased durability in the woods.”

As the latest addition to the John Deere saw tooth lineup, the beaver saw tooth is one of four options available to customers and can be purchased in boxes of 18 or 20 teeth. Designed for maximum durability while lowering operating costs, the full line of John Deere saw teeth for Wheeled and Tracked Feller Bunchers are made to help support daily logging operations and applications.

Customers interested in exploring the full line-up of John Deere saw teeth can work with a local dealer, who can recommend the right saw teeth for the logging operation at hand. For the latest on John Deere forestry products and jobsite solutions, please visit www.JohnDeere.com.

John Deere Introduces New Mid-Size Model to Its Line-Up of Crawler Log Loaders

MOLINE, Ill. (Feb. 20, 2023) — Designed for logging contractors of all sizes, John Deere is excited to introduce the new 2956G. The 2956G crawler log loader is an ideal solution for customers looking for a machine that provides the best combination of engine horsepower and hydraulics capability, while maintaining a machine weight of less than 90,000 lbs.

“We are always listening to customer feedback to bring ideal solutions and technologies to the forestry industry,” said Jarvis de Groot, global product marketing manager, forestry swing machines, John Deere. “The new 2956G crawler log loader machine not only provides optimal power and hydraulic capabilities but is still easy to transport due to its excellent width and weight combination.”

Aimed to help ease transportation, the 2956G crawler log loader features an overall shipping width of less than 11’6” and a 90,000 lbs operating weight. As machine weights and widths increase, so do costs associated with transportation. The design on the 2956G not only helps simplify transportability, but also helps save on costs relating to transport due to its less restrictive transportation requirements. In addition, the new mounting of the log deflector adds additional strength to the right-front corner of the machine and the new, clean, and simple design of the hood profile, aligned with counterweight, helps to enhance debris shedding.

The 2956G crawler log loader machine features excellent engine power for a machine of this size. When combined, the engine power and hydraulic flow significantly boost loading capability, speed, and the capacity to run the Waratah 624. Also, customers looking to increase efficiency in roadside processing can expect improved productivity when running the Waratah 624 head as compared to the 2654G.

Visibility enhancements have also been prioritized in the design of the new 2956G. Enabling additional visibility to the right track, as well as reduce overall impact, the RH front corner log deflector has been strategically moved to the back on the machine. This improves operator visibility to avoid obstacles and impact, reducing potential damage and downtime. Lastly, a rearview camera, light and JDLink antennas have been integrated into the counterweight for additional protection.

Offering ease of serviceability, the 2956G features strategic service access to the machine’s filters and checkpoints. With exceptional access to filters, maintenance points, and the cooling package, operators can stay up and running on the job for longer. These machines are also easy to inspect and change filters with wide open access, helping simplify daily inspections and routine maintenance.

John Deere Unveils 900 MH-Series Tracked Harvester with Intelligent Boom Control

MOLINE, IL (May 5, 2022) — John Deere is pleased to announce its latest operator assistance control feature, Intelligent Boom Control (IBC), for the 900 MH-Series Tracked Harvester. The development of this model is a result of global collaboration between the John Deere Wheeled Cut-to-Length and Full-Tree Forestry teams, aiming to implement IBC’s field proven technology into MH-Series of tracked harvesters.

With IBC, operators no longer need to control each independent boom function separately. One joystick moves the boom tip horizontally, while a second guides it vertically, for faster cycle times and more precise control. IBC’s smooth and fluid motion actively dampens functional change of directions, protecting boom structures and increasing wear life. IBC also automatically controls swing speed based on the overall position of the attachment.

“The continuous product development, new features, and the updating of systems and solutions are an integral part of John Deere’s way of operating,” said Jim O’Halloran, product marketing manager, John Deere. “Intelligent Boom Control is an example of an important operator assistance feature that we will continue to evolve throughout full tree forestry. Developing solutions for our customers’ needs are our number one priority and investing in innovation like IBC is an example that helps the overall productivity and profitability for the whole machine life cycle.”

Improved productivity, compared to the same machine without IBC, is another benefit for customers. IBC allows the operator to focus on controlling the attachment, helping improve efficiency. The controls used for reaching and securing trees for harvest intuitively mirror how the equipment might function if it were the operator’s arm.

IBC is now available on the 953MH and 959MH. For more information, please visit www.deere.com/en/tracked-harvesters or contact your local dealer.
